Maraea is our ‘Munty’—an honorary māmā-aunty. With a heart of gold, a sharp mind, and a bullshit radar that’s second to none, her sense of humour causes sharp intakes of breath—Is she really going there? Āe, she already did. Hold onto your undies, because this is going to be a ride. But that humour disarms even the toughest sceptics, as her true superpower lies in her ability to connect with people and build long-lasting, authentic relationships wherever she goes. She is a weaver of people, a kairaranga kaupapa, threading together wefts of tears and laughter, joy and aroha.

Spending her time between Te Whanganui-ā-Tara and her home in Ruatoki, Maraea keeps Oi grounded yet light. Raised in the misty valley of Ruatoki, she always brings the reals. She loves to push boundaries, ensuring that every breath she takes, every yarn she spins, and every tear she sheds contributes to the hauora of whānau and hāpori. Maraea is a true advocate for well-being and community, constantly weaving threads that bind us together and strengthen our collective resilience.
