Crystal adds the spark to our fire, the hā to hāpori, and always puts whānau first—something her six tamariki make sure of! Living in rural Hawke’s Bay, she’s constantly on the move, her cheeky smile a beacon of support as she helps whānau realise their true potential. Whether she’s heading up a maunga for some kori tinana or creating mōhiotanga from pūrākau, Crystal has a rare ability to see the tohu and connect deeply with people, place, and culture—superpowers she’s harnessed with grace, sass, and an infectious energy.

The tools Crystal has in her kete to unlock ihi, wehi, and wana are next-level. From creating maara jamz during COVID to boost food security, to building a kāpehū whetū (star compass) in her backyard to celebrate the rising of Matariki, to using pūrākau and kōrero tuku iho to weave play into the rhythm of the Pā Harakeke, she’s a creator of meaningful experiences. She’s all about planting the seeds for mana motuhake within whānau, hapū, and iwi spaces, making sure that every project, initiative, and connection has depth and lasting impact.
